About us

Born from Tradition

Our Story

A tradition shaped by time, driven by the future.

RV Murano was founded in 1972, but its story begins much earlier. Its roots reach back to the great Venetian tradition of artistic glassmaking and mirror making, and in particular to the heritage of the Toso Borella family of Murano, renowned since the late nineteenth century for the decoration of glass and the creation of elaborate Venetian mirrors.

The workshop of Giuseppe and Filippo Toso Borella, active in the production of artistic Venetian mirrors since 1888, received international recognition for the quality of its work, with awards at exhibitions in Milan in 1894, Nice in 1899 and at the Exposition Universelle in Paris in 1900.

It is from this heritage of knowledge, technique and attention to detail that the story of RV Murano has developed. More than fifty years of experience have allowed us to preserve traditional skills while continuously refining the way we work with glass. Engraving, grinding, shaping, decoration and assembly remain at the heart of our work, carried out with the same pursuit of precision and beauty that has always defined Venetian craftsmanship.

But preserving a tradition does not mean standing still.

Today, RV Murano brings this knowledge into the present, combining time-honoured techniques with contemporary design, new technologies and an international vision. From Venetian mirrors to bespoke glass creations, we work with private clients, architects, interior designers, hotels and projects around the world.

Every creation begins with glass and an idea. What follows is the result of experience, skilled hands and the freedom to create something that did not exist before.

Our purpose is not simply to preserve the past, but to give it a future.

How a mirror is made

From Glass to Art

01

DESIGN

Every creation begins with an idea. Shapes, proportions and decorative details are carefully designed to find the perfect balance between tradition, function and aesthetics.

02

ENGRAVING

Each decoration is engraved by hand, transforming the surface of the glass through precision, experience and techniques refined over time.

03

GLASSWORKING

Glass is cut, shaped, ground and worked by skilled hands, giving form to the individual elements that make every creation unique.

04

ASSEMBLY

Each element comes together in our workshop, where precision and attention to detail turn individual pieces into a finished work.

Philosophy

Tradition is only alive when it continues to evolve.

At RV Murano, we believe that the art of Venetian glass is not simply a heritage to preserve, but a living tradition to carry forward.

Our commitment is to protect the knowledge and techniques that have defined this craft for centuries, while allowing them to evolve through new ideas, contemporary design and new ways of creating.

Because the greatest way to honour a tradition is to give it a future.
